In my office I’m setting up a second audio-system, based on vinyl (of course). I recently purchased a Rega Planar 2 and was quite happy with that for now. The needle (or element) I wanted to upgrade at some point later, as long as it worked now I was in no hurry for a change right now.
Until yesterday that is, as all of a sudden the arm floated over the LP I just put on the table. No understandable sound came from the turntable. The needle had given the ghost, so a bit unhappy and (honestly) a bit happy… I ordered the upgrade I had my eye on and it arrived today. The Ortofon 2MR Blue, the special edition for the Rega turntable. It arrived today and it was a little bit of a struggle getting the tiny cables installed as the Ortofon’s pins are thinner than the previous element’s, but I got them on. Then just a bit of finetuning with the weight and angle and voila, I have a functioning turntable again a d now exactly in the setup as I was aiming for 😁
